RANSOMVILLE, NY – The Super DIRTcar Series returns to Western New York for the Summer Nationals at Ransomville Speedway on Wednesday, August 24.

It will be the series’ only stop at the track this season, paying $7,500 to the winner of the 75-lap event.

After three days of racing last week at SummerFAST, several drivers will be eager to build on the momentum of the event. Others will seek redemption.

Continue hot streak

Eight-time defending series champion Matt Sheppard comes into the match against Ransomville after an incredibly successful run at the inaugural SummerFAST event. He won two of the three events and claimed the inaugural SummerFAST Championship, while continuing to lead the series points battle.

Sheppard has already enjoyed success at Ransomville, picking up wins in 2021 and 2017. Should he pick up the win this visit, it would be the first hat-trick of the season, keeping him on course for his ninth career series title , come to the World Finals at The Dirt Track in Charlotte (November 2-5).

Breakthrough success

Heinke-Baldwin Racing driver Jimmy Phelps also enters Ransomville with the momentum of SummerFAST success.

The Baldwinsville, NY driver won his first paid series race since 2019 by handing his team a home win at Weedsport Speedway. The win also locked him into the 50th annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week.

He followed up the victory with a top 10 finish at Brewerton Speedway, then a third at Land of Legends Raceway. He will try to turn that momentum into a win at the Summer Nationals, which would be his first series victory in Ransomville.

stay in the fight

Mat Williamson, the 2019 series champion from St. Catharines, Ont., found his groove at the perfect time. He moved up to second place in points after three consecutive top 10 finishes – including two top-five finishes – as he heads to a track he has dominated all year.

Williamson led the points for 358 Modifieds at Ransomville throughout the year, earning multiple wins. However, if he is able to win on Wednesday, it would be his first Super DIRTcar Series victory at Ransomville Speedway.

Keep the momentum

Rookie Adam Pierson had a resounding success at SummerFAST, finishing 10th at Brewerton Speedway, followed by a second place finish at Land of Legends Raceway. It was the first career podium with the series for the driver from East Corinth, Vermont and the second of the season overall. Pierson will look to maintain success in the Summer Nationals and the remainder of the championship season.

Local talent

Former full-time Super DIRTcar series driver Erick Rudolph will battle current series regulars for the win. The Ransomville, NY native has won eight career series and finished 5th in the series finale at Ransomville last year.
