Gain ground

Mat Williamson has fought for the top spot for most of the season. Currently second in championship points – 123 points behind Matt Sheppard – Williamson will need to run a top-notch race to gain ground on the defending champion heading into the World Championship Finals at The Dirt Track in Charlotte, July 2-4. November 5.

He earned his first paid win of the season at Ransomville Speedway in August, but finished 12th at Albany-Saratoga earlier this year. He is still looking for his first speedway victory.

Reach the top five

“Batman” Peter Britten enters the Malta Massive Weekend with already three wins this season at Albany-Saratoga in their weekly competition. He’ll try to keep that momentum going in the series event as he’s still looking for his first paid win with the series this season.

A good run could also catapult him up the series points standings, currently eight points behind Max McLaughlin in fourth, and give him the momentum he needs for the 50th NAPA Super DIRT Week.

follow the magic

Mike Mahaney is taking part in the Malta Massive Weekend as the reigning event winner and as the two-time reigning series winner at Albany-Saratoga.

After earning his first career Super DIRTcar Series victory at Malt Massive Weekend last year, he then backed up that victory with another series win at the track in June. He has also found success in weekly competitions on the track, earning two wins this year.

Local talent

Albany-Saratoga Speedway has high-caliber talent ready to take on the full-time Super DIRTcar Series drivers. Matt Delorenzo, Kenny Tremont Jr, Demetrios Drellos and Jessey Mueller are all in the top 10 in track points with at least one featured victory heading into the final race of the track season.

Matt Delorenzo is the current points leader with four featured wins and a sizable lead over series regular Peter Britten. Thirteen-time track champion and local legend Kenny Tremont Jr. picked up a win on the track this season. During his career he has logged an exceptional number of laps around the 4/10 mile oval. His vast experience will be a great advantage going up against the series regulars in the 100 lap event.

Jessey Mueller turned in one of his best performances when the series visited the track in June, finishing third behind Marc Johnson and Mike Mahaney. Mueller will be looking to put on another high-caliber run this time around to battle for a win.
