Shiny and beautiful, the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport First Edition is cutting-edge luxury SUV at its best.

When I say brilliant, I’m not kidding. NASA called me to let me know they could see me from space. And they liked what they saw.

The 2022 Range Rover Sport Edition stripped out everything it didn’t need. It felt modern and sleek like few vehicles I’ve driven. That means everything from the flush door handles to the newly redesigned grille is minimalistic, giving it a punch like Rocky in the first film.

The 395-hp base engine in the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport First Edition is a mild-hybrid 3.0-liter inline-six. The new engine is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 developing 523 horsepower. It’s a powerful machine that can deliver performance at all times – I like that. The engine delivers a combined 20 miles per gallon.

On the outside, the 23-inch wheels have a stronger look due to the shorter front overhang. It’s compact and powerful and comes with the design features that Land Rover is famous for: Along with the short front overhang, you get the gently sloping roofline, which is instantly recognizable on the motorway , through the parking lot and at the valet station. This vehicle looks like $1 million, but actually starts at $94,000 and can go up to $163,000 for a fully loaded model.

I love all the modern touches. The grille is simple with rectangular shapes that form a modern design. The LED lights are powerful and slim both in the front and in the rear, which has a slim tailgate. It goes against what you see in many competing vehicles today, with big lights that make them look like a landing strip at an airport. I also like that the lines of the 2022 Range Rover Sport Edition’s body are kept to a minimum, giving it a clean and powerful feel that few SUVs can match.

Inside, there’s luxury, with creamy smooth leather and a nice solid steering wheel. I like what the engineers have done here because the cabin feels fresh, yet familiar. Freshness comes in the form of a 13.1-inch infotainment screen, which sits above the dashboard. The screen is bright and bright and cuts through Florida’s blinding light days and makes all the important information clear on those beautiful South Florida nights. I particularly like the 1,600-watt Meridian audio system with noise-canceling speakers on the headrest. This means the entire vehicle has a cohesive sound and feel that extends from the front to the third row, which is available on the long wheelbase.

The wheelbase also features state-of-the-art technology, such as the road-reading air suspension system that feeds data to the navigation computer.

For my money, the 2022 Range Rover Sport Edition is a fun, luxurious vehicle with plenty of power and punch. Take it home and let me know how much you love it.
