Toyota will expand its Yaris Cross range in Australia, bringing the dynamic GR Sport variant to the light SUV lineup.

Expected to hit local showrooms in December, the Yaris Cross GR Sport offers retuned suspension for a more rewarding driving experience, plus stylish interior and exterior touches that set it apart from the rest of the lineup. Yaris Cross.

The GR Sport is clearly differentiated on the outside by 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a 5-twin-spoke design and a gloss machined finish, while other exterior touches include a unique front grille with a in black mesh and a sporty rear diffuser.

The upgraded front sports seats feature a faux suede cover with gray synthetic leather upholstery with light gray stitching, with the stitching also applied to the steering wheel.

Gunmetal silver trim inserts applied to the doors and dash complement the GR Sport’s aluminum pedals, while GR logos are found throughout the cabin on the front head restraints, smart keys and steering wheel.

The highly rigid TNGA-B platform that underpins the Yaris Cross provides the urban SUV with excellent chassis balance and nimble handling, which has been further improved for the GR Sport with retuned suspension to refine feel and response steering and reduce body roll.

The GR Sport builds on the already impressive specification of the Yaris Cross, which includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay®1 and Android Auto™2 compatibility, climate control and a full suite of active safety technologies, including Toyota Connected Services.

The GR Sport will be offered exclusively with a 2WD hybrid powertrain, offering superb efficiency and response.

The hybrid system combines a 67kW/120Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a pair of motor-generators on the front axle which combine to produce a total system output of 85kW.

Since its launch in late 2020, the Yaris Cross has become one of the most popular vehicles in its segment with a blend of functionality, performance and value.

More details about the Yaris Cross GR Sport will be revealed closer to its December release.
